just finished re-reading George Alec Effinger's "When Gravity Fails", about to start the next one... if you've never had the pleasure, i almost envy you the opportunity to read his 'Budayeen' books for the first time. needless to say, i cannot recommend them highly enough. "when gravity fails", " a fire in the sun", "the exile kiss" and "budayeen nights" - they encompass a 'cyberpunk' world unlike any other and more interesting than at least 95% of the other creations in that genre.

for your entertainment i present to you... lightning!

it's june here in the armpit of Tejas (from what i hear, south Tejas qualifies as the 'ass-crack of Texas') and with that in mind, i share with you the following:

you cook all day
from the sun's hot rays
:: clap clap clap clap ::
deep in the heart of texas

humid'ty's high,
you can't stay dry
:: clap clap clap clap ::
deep in the heart o' texas

summer's just begun
you want a gun
:: clap clap clap clap ::
deep in the heart o' texas

no breeze blows by
you want to die
:: clap clap clap clap ::
deep in the heart o' texas

the pavement's hot
Hell is your lot
:: clap clap clap clap ::
deep in the heart o' texas

that's what i had going through my mind when i came back from hauling out the garbage this morning...

Dorris has made it back home safe and sound, for which I am duly thankful.
on the job hunt front, nothing yet. but i really wouldn't mind if she found something in Arkansas near her cousins. they're good folk.

working on finishing up a 2000 word story for a contest, then it's back to the 'now has a name' P.I. story...
later.
